The Nakespeare apparel company proudly introduces a new lounge wear and intimate apparel line that is giving the world a different take on Shakespeare. Using the popular trend of graphic printing on apparel, Shakespeare by Nakespeare is giving the world a little piece of literature every time they buy our product.
Appropriately, the idea for Nakespeare happened during a trip to London, England, where I studied at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. One day while on the London Bridge the thought occurred to me to share Shakespeare with the world in a whole different way by putting Shakespeare quotes on underwear. Soon after Nakespeare LLC became a reality.
We débuted our Hamlet Collection at the Atlanta Gift and Apparel Mart in January 2008. Our Collection was a show stopper, garnering smirks and smiles from passers by who we asked, “Want some Shakespeare on your underwear?” Gifts and Decorative Accessories Magazine featured us in their “Directly from the Mart” section saying, “At every market, some unusual products stand out not as examples of the trends, but as unique finds. Some of Atlanta’s more unusual offerings included Shakespeare-quoting intimate apparel from Nakespeare”. Some locations where we can be found are Paddington Station, a gift shop in Ashland Oregon, that features the largest American regional Shakespearean Repertory Theater and in Staunton Virginia’s Space, a town that is home of The American Shakespeare Center. We have caught the interest of Museum Shop trade show representatives, lingerie boutiques and an international lingerie blog called, Nickersblog.com.
Popular items include our Men’s Boxer Brief featuring the quote, “What an ass am I?” on the back side of the garment, and our Women’s Cami featuring a piece of Hamlet’s love letter to Ophelia.
